All in the Family

Good morning! Another beautiful weekend is just around the corner! Though I might not have a lot planned, I am super excited because I plan on going for a long run this weekend and going to see the new Pixar movie Brave. What are you doing this weekend? In other exciting news, I have two new running partners in crime, which I am in running heaven just thinking about it! My brother, Scott, and his fiancĂ©e, Dana, have decided to join me at the start line and run the 2013 Tinker Bell Half Marathon. Though we might not live in the same city anymore my brother and I have always been very close. I look forward to talking about all of his training via iChat and text supporting him during his journey in running his first half marathon. I am pretty confident that once he runs this RunDisney race, like his little sis’ he will be hooked.

Disneyland Half Marathon 2011… My New Running Partners

QOTD: Do you run with family? Has your running influenced other family members to get healthy and join in your craziness for running half or full marathons?

    • The hardest part is having to wait 29 weeks till race day!! I am already so excited that I can’t sleep!!

  1. I don’t really run with my family currently. Occasionally my boyfriend will run a 5K with me, and I’m really excited my mom is starting to show interest in running — she’ll be running her first 5K at Disney World! I’m hoping after the race she’ll be hooked!

    • I would love to be able to do a 5k with my mom! I am sure that you are going to have a great time. You could not have picked a better place and race event for your mom’s first! I always say that if your first race is a RunDisney race you will hooked the moment you cross the finish line!! Best of luck to you and your mom!

    • Though I have ran many races, I have only ran one other race with a family member. Typically my family is on the side lines cheering me on. I am very excited to be yanking my brother off of the cheer squad and being able to share my passion for running with my him and his fiancee.

  2. Glad to connect with you through twitterland! I wish I could say I’ve motivated family members to run but… nope! I can’t think of any, except my one brother-in-law who will occasionally do a 3 mile run. Many of them are active in other ways (swimming, walking, etc) and I’m working on getting my sports-loving husband to run with me sometimes… we get in about one a week together, otherwise he’d rather run if he’s chasing a ball around a court or field. 🙂

    • I too am happy that we connected via twitterland!! It sounds like you have a very active family already. I have ran for many years and typically my family is my cheer squad not running partners, which is why I was shocked when my brother and his fiancee told me that they wanted to run in the Tinker Bell half marathon. I am hoping that when he crosses the finish he will want to keep on running with me!!
