From the time we are small children we learn that by doing what is expected of us we are rewarded. Do your homework and you get an extra 15 minutes of computer time. Finish your dinner and you get dessert. Clean your room and you get an allowance. This mentality does not change as we grow up. Now that we are adults we still need to do what is expected of us, though this no longer is an expectation, but a responsibility. I today did not want to run my 3 miles, but I knew that Homeland, Once Upon a Time, The Good Wife, and Boardwalk Empire, this is what I referring to as TV Superbowl, they are on TV tonight and simply put that is my motivation and incentive to put my best running foot forward.
Here is how I did this week….
Monday: cross train on bike for 30 minutes
Tuesday: run 2 miles on the treadmill
Wednesday: cross train on bike for 30 minutes
Thursday: run 5 miles @ the Bluff
Sunday: run 3 miles (Yes this is my “LONG” run for the week according the training plan)
QOTD: What motivates you to workout? Do you reward yourself?
