RunDisney Adds a Dash of Pixie Dust to the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend

Coming off of the coat tails of RunDisney’s Dumbo Double Dare Challenge and Glass Slipper Challenge, the amazing people over at RunDisney have announced the addition of a 10k during the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend. I don’t know about you, but I am beyond excited for this race and fun-filled weekend!! This will be the third year where I will be putting on my wings and flying through Disneyland!! I was lucky to participate in both the inaugural event in 2012 and 2013! While I wish that this would have be an “Official Challenge” if you completed the 10k and half marathon, but I can understand RunDisney only wanting to have one challenge per coast.

Check out this super cute YouTube video announcing this inaugural event! I can’t wait to participate!!

Here is the Official Press Release:

Disney Fairies-themed 10K added to Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend

Tinker Bell’s fairy friends to join in the runDisney fun at Disneyland Resort

Anaheim, Calif. (July 2, 2013) – It took a little faith, trust and pixie dust, but the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland Resort is expanding to include the inaugural Tinker Bell 10K in 2014.

In its third year, Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend, hosted by the city of Anaheim and the Disneyland Resort, is scheduled for Jan. 16-19. Earlier this year, more than 21,000 runners took part in the women-focused weekend of events centered on health, fitness and active lifestyles.

The new Disney Fairies-themed 10K will be held Saturday, January 18, and builds on the massive popularity of the runDisney series and women-focused events. Tinker Bell 10K finishers will receive a new, specially-designed, fairy- themed medal.

“We’re excited to add the popular 10K distance to Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend,” said Faron Kelley, director of marketing, Disney Sports. “Tinker Bell 10K expands an already exciting series of events, and adds more opportunities for our passionate runners on the west coast, especially those new runners who are stepping up to the 10K distance.”

Along with the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend is one of two women-focused runDisney events. Both races are among the largest women-specific running events in the country and focus on healthy, active lifestyles for women and girls.

Registration for 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend opens July 9 at 12 pm EST/9 am PST at

QOTD: Are you going to be participating in this inaugural event? Do you wish that they made this event an official “challenge”

  1. I’ll probably do it. Even though part of me wants the challenge bling, I can understand why they didn’t make it one. It would be a nightmare to transfer those of us that already signed up for Tink during Princess registration that would want to do the challenge. Plus without the challenge, it leaves more slots for new runners that aren’t ready for a half. I’m sure it will sell out super quick.
